The average Pre works building energy rating (BER) was a G, the average Post works BER is a B1, with the average energy uplift of over 400kWh per unit.
Attic insulation: 300mm of mineral wool insulation. Insulation of all tanks and pipes. Roof ventilation
External wall insulation: The walls of this apartment block are of solid stone construction, all exterior walls were wrapped with 100mm of EPS external insulation. This is then rendered with a silicone render using a colour of the clients choice.
Air to water heat pump: The existing electric heaters were removed. 5kW air to water heat pumps were installed their place. Suitably sized radiators were installed with flow and return pipework, along with a factory insulated 150L cylinder which provides a constant supply of hot water.
Solid fuel insert stove: The existing fireplace was removed and replaced with a new fireplace, mantle and hearth which complied with current building regulations. The chimney was cleaned and lined and a new Eco-directive compliant insert solid fuel stove was installed. A chimney cowl and two CO detectors were also installed.
LED bulbs: All internal light bulbs were upgraded to LED.
Windows and doors: The front door was replaced with a composite door. All existing windows were replaced with triple glazed UPVC windows.
